“It is difficult to realize that only ten years ago, at the end of December 1957, the United States had scarcely begun the exploration of space.”
This quarterly report starts with an update on the development of the Lunar Module through testing in various simulated environments. Chapters in this quarterly report include Spacecraft Status, Mission Preparations, Astronaut Training, Lunar Investigations (primarily mapping and geology), Apollo Applications (including the Orbital Workshop and Telescope Mount), and the Apollo 4 Mission. Regarding the latter, we receive a fairly lengthy bullet-point summary of the success of the mission and what that means for the Apollo program as a whole.
